In this case, the merchant must obtain authorization for the additional amount. The card issuer is responsible for the total amount of the transaction.
- The cardholder adds a gratuity in an amount exceeding 20% of the amount of the transaction and makes the transaction amount to exceed the merchant’s floor. In this case, the merchant must obtain authorization for the total amount of the transaction.
